Tecnis® Multifocal IOL
The advanced Tecnis® Multifocal is an implantable lens that significantly improves vision after cataract surgery and corrects presbyopia. It is designed to help you regain younger vision and be free of glasses, the Tecnis® lens can provide you with high-quality vision at all distances and in all lighting conditions-even in dim light.
Many patients with the Tecnis® multifocal lens experience the best eyesight they have had in years. In fact, nearly 9 out of 10 people do not require glasses after receiving a Tecnis® multifocal implantable lens.
The AcrySof IQ ReSTOR® IOL is a unique technological innovation that can provide you with enhanced image quality and a full range of vision - near, far and everywhere in between - for increased independence from reading glasses or bifocals.
As we perform activities such as watching television, reading, or working at the computer, our eyes are constantly focusing on objects at varying distances. The ability to quickly change focus throughout our range of vision is called accommodation. We begin to lose this ability as we grow older, gradually becoming more and more dependent on bifocals or reading glasses.
The AcrySof IQ ReSTOR® IOL is divided into two main areas, a refractive outer ring that focuses light for distance vision, and a series of apodized diffractive rings in the center of the lens that focus light for near and intermediate vision. Together, these areas provide you with the multiple focal points, for excellent vision at all distances.

The Toric IOL corrects astigmatism that is present at both near and distance vision. For Cataract patients who have astigmatism, and who do not wish to wear eyeglasses to see clearly at a distance, choosing a Toric Lens Implant can help them be free of glasses for tasks such as driving, that require clear distance vision. Toric IOL technology uses biocompatible materials that have been successfully used in contact lenses and proven safe for the eye.
Toric Lens Implants do not correct Presbyopia, and therefore even with Toric Lens Implants to correct astigmatism after Cataract Surgery, most patients still require reading glasses or bifocals to be able to comfortably perform near vision tasks such as reading and intermediate vision tasks such as computer work.
Among the choices for patients with cataracts who wish to have good vision at all distances is Crystalens®. This lens is intended to partially flex likes your eye’s natural lens, allowing you to see better at multiple distances. Crystalens® is intended to be an accommodating intraocular lens that, unlike a standard IOLs, can treat both cataracts and presbyopia, loss of distance and intermediate vision. The Crystalens® can reduce or eliminate glasses for most activities, including: reading a book, working on the computer, and driving a car.
Like the natural lens, it uses the eye muscle to flex and accommodate in order to focus on objects in the environment at all distances. Following surgery, as the eye heals, the Crystalens® often loses some of its flexing (zooming) capability.
